Greetings, Friends!

We are astonished at how quickly this year has flown by, as our youngest chicks, Lis and Eddie, just fledged the nest this morning! The proud parents, Mick and Sneezy, have been prolific in the past 8 years, having raised eight successful chicks to soar Caribbean skies. We are confident that the chicks’ next step acclimating to the jungle—strengthening their wings, soaring through trees, and learning foraging techniques—will come naturally as their attentive parents care for the youngest Great Green Macaws in Costa Rica.

In other exciting news, the puppet show "Pewe y El Rey de las Lapas" (Pewe and the King of the Macaws) was a resounding success! We reached over 500 students in the Talamanca region, offering an interpretation of the Bribri cosmic vision that brought laughter, astonishment, singing, tears, and deep reflection.

As a first-time puppeteer in this performance, I was moved by the students' reactions as we brought the story to life—an unforgettable experience.

Ara Manzanillo continues to thrive, having helped repopulate 122 Great Green Macaws along the Southern Caribbean coast. This success is largely thanks to the unwavering support of the community. We are excited to continue our Education Outreach program in the coming months and will (hopefully very soon!) share the final performance recording from our backyard at Ara.

Thank you for celebrating with us as these chicks take the biggest leap of their lives to truly become wild Great Green Macaws!

Warm regards,

Erin Paulson
